Small team, two distinct jobs. Jessica Martinez researches and writes every price figure on this site. Chris Terry owns the site and decides how it gets held accountable when something needs fixing. Neither job bleeds into the other.

Jessica Martinez
Home-Improvement Cost Analyst. Every dollar figure on this site, from the calculator's baseline to the numbers in the guides, passed through Jessica first. She pulls from installer price sheets, manufacturer catalogs, and published trade-group surveys, then checks the ranges against each other before anything gets published. She is not a garage door technician, an engineer, or a contractor of any kind, and a guide she wrote is never a substitute for someone actually inspecting your garage. Jessica covers home-improvement pricing on several sites in the Encore Editorial group; this is one of them, not the only one.

Chris Terry
Founder and Site Owner. Chris started Garage Door Installation Cost and the broader network it belongs to, and wrote the sourcing rules on the editorial standards page. You will never see his name on a guide; he doesn't write them. What he does handle: reviewing corrections readers flag, deciding when a pricing assumption in the calculator needs updating, and making sure a byline here always belongs to the person who did the actual work.
Why the byline never changes
Right now, Jessica is the only person who has written for this site, so every guide carries her name and only her name. Nothing is ghostwritten under a fictional persona and no anonymous panel reviews her work before it goes up. Should a second researcher start contributing, their guides would carry their own name, tied to what they actually researched, and this page would grow to reflect that. The full breakdown of how sourcing and corrections work is on the editorial standards page.
